All crews registered for Fécamp Grand'Escale are true enthusiasts, lovers of maritime cultures, who come for the pleasure of meeting and sailing in a remarkable setting and in an authentic maritime atmosphere. They are the guests of the Fécampois. A few nautical miles from Fécamp, downstream, Etretat and Yport are the two largest beaching ports on the Côte d'Albâtre (Alabaster Coast). Fécamp Grand'Escale will offer sailing and rowing fleets an exceptional stopover in these emblematic places immortalized by the Impressionists.
Le dundée thonier Biche |
As early as 1840, the Fécamp Regatta Society organized races in the roadsteads, where pilots from Le Havre and Fécamp competed against each other. A tradition that will be taken up during the regattas of the festival, where amateurs of beautiful yachting will tack off Etretat, and where the famous Le Havre pilots like Marie Fernand will measure themselves with those of our British friends. On the water, at the rhythm of the tides and currents, parades, entries and exits of the port and basins will benefit from an adapted program and schedules and from the supervision of Fécamp’s nautical associations. Later on in the harbour, other volunteers will take care of the moorings, the evenings.... and the thousand and one small problems of any collective organization.
